Tom and Abby Stuart lost their daughter Caitlin when she was only twelve. She just didn’t come home from the park. Years later, they lost hope and erected a memorial in her name at the local cemetery. Then, a mysterious girl shows up at the site time after time for no known reason.
For the first time in four years, that girl will lead the police to a pedophile named John Colter. John has Caitlin, and his capture is inevitable. Here’s the twist: Remember Patty Hearst and the Symbionese Liberation Army? Hearst was kidnapped, but later voluntarily joined her kidnappers in crime. In Cemetery Girl, Caitlin was never kidnapped but went home with John voluntarily. After three days, he refused to let her leave because he knew he would be in real trouble. Caitlin fell in love with him anyway.
Now Caitlin is 16 years old and is back with her parents. However, she wants to be with Colter. Colter is in jail, but the police can’t hold him unless she testifies against him. She doesn’t want to do that.
Caitlin was the kind of girl who was very headstrong, even when she was just twelve. That is why Colter’s capture did not fix the problem. The ending will not be what one would expect, not in a million years.
